The primary business of Akhter Renewables plc is to build, operate and maintain solar parks, both for itself and on behalf of others. History

The company is part of the very successful Akhter Group plc, established in 1979 and incorporates Akhter Solar Ltd that owns Pakistan’s first automated facility for mass producing Photovoltaic Modules. With 5 years of research and development already under its belt through Akhter Solar, Akhter Renewables is well positioned to serve the PV market.

From Wafer to Farm

Akhter’s control over PV manufacturing is significant and covers the process from the wafer stage, right through to PV Plant operation. This gives Akhter an advantage over many companies that are only involved in one or two stages.

Akhter PV Modules

Akhter’s PV Modules are made to the highest standards at the company’s state-of-the-art production plant. Polycrystalline modules, from 5w to 250w and conversion efficiency up to 16%, service low voltage applications, right through to high production grid connected use.

Aluminium Frame
Heavy duty, box-style anodized lightweight aluminium frames from Akhter Renewables will provide structural strength, aid installation and protect the edges of PV modules. Akhter offers frame lengths up to 5.5 metres with inserts that clip into the cavity to hold the frame rigid at the corners.

Rugged Junction Box
Akhter’s highly durable, patented junction box has a dust and splash proof housing and protects against corrosion. It has the capacity to dissipate excess heat quickly, for lower operating temperatures and is securely welded for longevity. It uses quality, robust connectors. Robust for Extreme Conditions – tested in accordance with IEC 61215, to withstand increased loads of up to 5.4 kN/m2. Suitable for use in under heavy snow and ice loads. Holes in the hollow section prevent the build-up of condensation and damage to the frame from freezing.

Akhter Tracking Systems

Akhter’s Research and Development teams have perfected the efficient production of linear actuators and a computer system to track the sun from morning to evening. This increases the efficiency of modules as they are in maximum use for longer in the day.

Automatic Positioning

The tracking unit is designed to accurately track a solar panel fitted on a specially balanced frame. It has an electronic timer unit and a set of gears to transmit the power to the panel. Orientation is accomplished in small steps of 38 pulses per minute and its motion is almost unnoticeable.

More Energy Generated with Fewer Modules.

Orienting a photovoltaic panel to face the sun can increase its performance by up to 30%. Where space is at a premium, a tracker unit means that 25% fewer modules are needed to supply the energy normally generated by fixed units.


Uses Less Than 1% of Energy to Run

Less than 1% of the energy generated by each module is used to drive the movement of the tracking unit as it continually repositions the module to face the sun.

Technology of the Future Quality, Protective Module Design

Akhter employs Glass-Tedlar technology, with a configuration that fulfills the most demanding PV applications. The PV cells in Akhter’s modules are embedded in flexible transparent EVA, to resist UV and protect the cell from etching, ensuring the best performance whatever the climate. The module is set behind highly transparent tempered glass. This delivers more power and ensures high impact resistance and protection against hail, snow, ice and storms. The back of the module is sealed with high quality plastic and the entire laminate is installed in an anodized aluminium frame to provide structural strength and ease of installation.

Latest Concentrator Technology

Akhter uses concentrator technologies to “concentrate” or focus light from a relatively broad collection area onto a much smaller area of active semiconductor PV cell material. To benefit from concentrator technology, the modules must be pointed directly at the sun using trackers that follow the sun’s trajectory throughout the day. By reducing the amount of PV material required to capture a given amount of sunlight, system costs can be reduced, resulting in a lower cost per watt of output.

Long Term Performance Warranties

25-year power output and 2 year workmanship warranty. Plus! all modules are recyclable. Quality Control – QC procedures are followed rigorously to ensure each module meets the highest standards of manufacture. Modules are individually tested and certified in accordance with IEC- and UL-standards.
